# How to Set Up SMTP for Email via iCloud Mail

> iCloud Mail is a popular service among Apple users. To use iCloud Mail for sending emails via SMTP, configure your SMTP settings as follows:

## SMTP Server Details

* **SMTP Server/Host:** `smtp.mail.me.com`
* **SMTP Port:** `587`

## Authentication Information

* **SMTP User Name:** Your full iCloud Mail email address (e.g., `yourname@icloud.com`).
* **SMTP Password:** An app-specific password. This is required as iCloud uses two-factor authentication. You must generate this password from your Apple ID account page under the security settings.

## Additional Information

* It is crucial to use an app-specific password instead of your regular iCloud password due to Apple’s security requirements.
* Ensure that SMTP is enabled in your iCloud settings to send mail through other applications.

## Reference Material

* For a step-by-step guide on generating an app-specific password and additional setup details, refer to Apple Support: [Apple Support on Email Setup](https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT202304).
